The Pittsburgh Pirates announced prior to Friday night’s game that Andrew McCutchen and Ke’Bryan Hayes were both placed on the 10-day Injured List.
Right-handed pitcher Cody Bolton was recalled from Indianapolis. Ji-Man Choi was activated from the 60-day Injured List. Left-handed pitcher Rob Zastryzny was designated for assignment to clear 40-man roster space for Choi.
McCutchen is dealing with an elbow injury, while Hayes has the same back issue that sidelined him until yesterday when he was activated off of the IL for one game. With four days off due to the All-Star break, it seems like the best time for these issues to arise, especially if they are going to miss the minimum amount of time.
