RHP Nick Economos (8-8, 3.15 ERA in 117 IP) was returned to Bradenton after four lackluster games at Altoona. The 24 year old right-hander, in his fifth season in the Pirates’ system, started the year at Greensboro and dominated, fanning 50 batters and posting a 2.48 ERA in 32 2⁄3 innings. Promoted on May 20 to Bradenton, Economos saw his K’s drop to 54 in 67 innings, but his ERA dropped to 2.01. Promoted again to Altoona on July 23, he quickly ran into trouble, giving up three, six, two and six runs in his four appearances.
