A.J. Schugel having shoulder discomfort again

A.J. Schugel’s rehab at Indianapolis has been discontinued due to a recurrence of his shoulder discomfort.

Schugel had a rough inning in a game last night, possibly leading to this. The shoulder problem has been an off-again, on-again issue for Schugel at least since late in the 2016 season. He was getting close to a possible recall, although it’s not clear who’d get sent down, as most of the Pirates’ bullpen has been pitching well lately.

In minor league news, the Pirates have moved right-hander Pedro Vasquez to Altoona from extended spring training.

Pedro Vasquez has been promoted to Double-A @AltoonaCurve and will start game two of their doubleheader tonight.
