A few news items following the Pirates’ home opener

Just some followups:

Musgrove reported shoulder issue this morning, before scheduled side session, director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk said. Shut down for 5-7 days. DL stint will exceed 10 days.

This makes a bit more sense, considering that Musgrove reported he was feeling fine after throwing 90 pitches in his last outing at minor league camp. Which leads to:

As for today’s injury, x-rays on Jordy Mercer’s finger were negative. Mercer is day-to-day and hopes not to miss any games.

As for the opening day crowd:

Today's crowd of 30,186 is #Pirates smallest ever for home homer at PNC Park, and their smallest on home opener overall since 1982, when they drew 28,985 to Three Rivers Stadium

Of course, the weather probably played a role in this.
