Zach Trotman likely to make Penguins debut against Jets

Zach Trotman has waited a while for this opportunity.

Five hundred and seventy-one days, to be precise.

That’s how long it has been since Trotman’s last NHL game, which came April 3, 2016, as a member of the Boston Bruins. That streak will likely end Thursday night, as Trotman seems likely to make his Penguins debut as the team deals with a rash of injuries along the blue line.

“It would be exciting to get back, yeah,” Trotman said. “It’s been a while.”

With both Justin Schultz and Matt Hunwick still dealing with concussions, Trotman was one of the first six defensemen off the ice after the Penguins’ morning skate.
