One question people have is whether this qualifying round even was the playoffs. Did the Penguins extend their postseason appearance streak to 14 seasons? Or is it over at 13 after being eliminated by Montreal in the qualifying round on Friday?
For both individual player statistics and franchise statistics, the qualifying round is the playoffs according to the NHL. While there was some debate on that leading up to the restart of the season, the NHL made that ruling back on July 10 when the new collective bargaining agreement was ratified on July 10.
