The Penguins have recalled goalie Casey DeSmith from AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, the team announced Tuesday.
The move likely means that regular starter Matt Murray will miss some amount of time after leaving in the second period of the team's 5-4 win against Philadelphia on Monday night with an apparent right leg injury.
Flyers winger Jakub Voracek collided with Murray after he lost an edge on a breakaway, and Murray had to be helped off the ice by trainers and teammates. Coach Mike Sullivan did not have an update on his status after the game.
Tristan Jarry stepped in for Murray to finish off the win.
