Undersized Sheary hopes to make big impact

It’s hard to miss Conor Sheary on the ice this week at the Penguins prospect development camp.

Not because he demands attention for his towering profile. Just the opposite. He’s the smallest guy on the ice at 5 feet 9 and 175 pounds. But he’s whip fast, and, so far, he’s also the craftiest.

“He is an interesting prospect,” assistant general manager Tom Fitzgerald said Wednesday after the second day of development camp at Consol Energy Center. “It’s hard not to notice him out there, he’s just so slippery and creative. Always has the puck. … [He’s a] kid that played under the radar at UMass Amherst, I think we’ve all identified him as a really good prospect.
