Road game curse continues with Penguins loss to Red Wings

DETROIT — The Penguins have been utterly dominant at PPG Paints Arena for most of the 2018 calendar year.

Their play outside of Pittsburgh city limits has been another story.

They dropped another road game Tuesday night, falling 5-2 to a Red Wings team 20 points out of the playoff race.

The Penguins are 15-20-4 on the road this season, the only Eastern Conference team with a losing record away from home. They’re 2-5-1 in their last eight away contests.

Perhaps most troubling, two of those five losses — Tuesday against Detroit and last week against the Islanders — have come against teams in the bottom half of the standings.
