Recchi to divest interest in Las Vegas' new NHL franchise

Mark Recchi, the Penguins’ player development coach, figured he was making a simple investment.

Turns out he was making a significant mistake.

Recchi purchased a tiny share — believed to be .01 percent — of the NHL’s new franchise in Las Vegas, making him one of several people reported to be minority owners in that team.

Trouble is, Recchi still is on the Penguins’ payroll, and there’s an obvious conflict in being involved with two clubs.

Recchi acknowledged via text message this afternoon that he will be relinquishing what he described as his “very, very, very, small” share in the newly named Golden Knights.
