Players react to Penguins’ acquisition of Derick Brassard

RALEIGH, N.C. — When you’ve won back-to-back Stanley Cups, there really isn’t much doubt what the goals and expectations are within a locker room.

But the Penguins’ acquisition of Derick Brassard Friday made it crystal-clear that they are all-systems-go on a third consecutive championship, and that message was well-received in the locker room.

“Obviously we’re going for it,” Patric Hornqvist said. “That’s the kind of organization you want to play for. [One] who always tries to get better. That’s what we try to do every day we’re on the ice, too. In practice, we try to improve and now the management steps up and gets us a great player.
