Pittsburgh gets ready for Stanley Cup parade, two large screens to be set up Downtown

As many as 400,000 people will crowd Downtown streets Wednesday morning for a chance to see Lord Stanley’s cup return to Pittsburgh, city officials said Tuesday.

“You always want to have a parade, because that means you won the championship,” Penguins spokesman Tom McMillan said. “That’s the best part.”

The cup will ride with Penguins’ captain Sidney Crosby — this year’s Conn Smythe Trophy winner — in one of 10 convertibles or 20 Dodge pickup trucks that will carry the champions through the city, Mr. McMillan said.

Yet-to-be-determined suburban and urban marching bands will accompany the team, as will Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto and Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald, city officials said.
