Phone ringing? Might be Evgeni Malkin on Line 1

The NHL has advised players to self-quarantine until at least April 30, so organized team activities are pretty much out of the question for at least a while longer.

Most organized team activities, anyway.

But the Penguins today began one that involves every player on the major-league roster, as well as the entire coaching staff and general manager Jim Rutherford.

And it doesn't matter that some of them are hundreds, if not thousands, of miles from their teammates.

Players, coaches and Rutherford are calling team sponsors and randomly selected season-ticket holders, with the goal of simply remaining in touch with them.
