The World Championships have begun:
- Matt Murray gave up two goals, including one presumptive second overall pick (and future New York Ranger) Kappo Kakko on a breakaway. Canada ended up losing 3-1 to Finland. [TSN.ca]
- Evgeni Malkin took his “flat out refusal to play intelligent hockey” (according to some corners of the Pittsburgh media, anyways) and tallied two assists in Russia’s 5-2 win over Norway, both nice passes from behind the net. [TSN.ca]
- Patric Hornqvist and his Swedish teammates fell 5-2 to the Czechs.
