Penguins tied with Lightning, 2-2, after one period of Game 2

The Penguins and Lightning are tied, 2-2, after the first period of Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Final at Consol Energy Center.

The Penguins, who dropped Game 1 Friday night, 3-1, came out flying early, controlling most of the play in Tampa Bay’s end of the ice, but faltered late in the period to throw away an early two-goal lead.

Matt Cullen put the Penguins up, 1-0, at 4:32 of the first period when he corralled a rebound near the bottom of the right circle and fired a high, quick wrist shot over the shoulder of Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy.
