If the NHL was sending a message by levying a three game suspension on Capitals defenseman Brooks Orpik for the excessively late and high hit that injured Olli Maatta, the Penguins aren’t weighing in.
“I’m not sure if the league’s trying to send a message,” said coach Mike Sullivan this morning. “I think they’re just trying to do their job. And we’re going to try to do our job. We’re going to play regardless of who’s in our lineup…we’re going to play the game we’ve tried to play here for four or five months now.”
The puck drops for Game 3 of the Penguins-Capitals second round series tonight at 8:10 p.
