Penguins re-sign Kasper Bjorkqvist to one-year contract extension

After adding several prospects to the mix via the draft this past weekend, the Penguins kept one of their own in the mix as well by locking Kasper Bjorkqvist up for one more year.

Bjorkqvist’s one year extension runs through the upcoming season with a cap hit of $750,000.

“Kasper is an honest, responsible two-way player who is very coachable and understands the game well,” said assistant general manager Patrik Allvin. “We felt that it was important for Kasper to play in Finland last year after his injuries, and he found a lot of success there, which was good for his development.
