The Penguins re-assigned defenseman Scott Harrington to their minor league club in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton today, which opens the door for a potential return by Derrick Pouliot.
Harrington had served as the club's seventh or extra defenseman for the playoffs.
Head Coach Mike Johnston said on Wednesday that Pouliot is "really close to playing. He is."
Pouliot was injured in the last week of the regular season, but has been skating with the team for several days.
The club has not said if Pouliot will re-join the club's lineup in New York for Game 5.
