Penguins promote Kostopoulos after Young's departure; Nikkel to video coach

The Penguins have made some additional promotions in their hockey operations department.

It was announced Friday by Ron Hextall that Tom Kostopoulos has been promoted to director of player development, a role previously held by Scott Young, who served in that position for the past five years. Young left the Penguins' organization to become the Canucks' director of player personnel.

Hextall also announced Madison Nikkel has been promoted to video coach.

Kostopoulos, 43, was drafted by the Penguins with the 204th overall selection in the 1999 NHL Draft.
