Penguins place defenseman Frank Corrado on waivers

The Penguins placed defenseman Frank Corrado on waivers Saturday, likely indicating that Brian Dumoulin is close to returning from the concussion that has sidelined him for the past two games.

Corrado has played in five games for the Penguins this season, most recently Sunday against the Red Wings. He has not registered a point in the NHL yet this year.

The rest of the NHL now has 24 hours to place a claim on Corrado. If none do, he can be assigned to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, where he has spent most of this season.

The Penguins are off Saturday after their 4-0 win against the Islanders Friday.
