In 12 NHL seasons, Penguins defenseman Trevor Daley has reached a conference final series only two times.
His second appearance barely lasted four games.
Daley will miss the rest of the postseason due to a broken left ankle that occurred in the second period of Game 4 of the Eastern Conference final against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
“He’s really made our team a better team,” coach Mike Sullivan said. “You know, he’s a mobile guy. He can move the puck. He’s got real good offensive instincts. He’s a real solid two-way defenseman, and it’s hard to replace those guys, but we’ve done it all year, and we’ll deal [with] it again.
