Penguins notebook: Crosby has been coming through when it counts

Sidney Crosby has a pretty simple explanation for why he has scored all three of the Penguins’ game-winning goals in the Eastern Conference final against Tampa Bay.

“It’s worked out that way,” he said Wednesday.

Crosby has a point because, aside from the overtime goal he got in Game 2, there was no way of knowing the others he scored (in Games 3 and 6) ultimately would provide the margin of victory.

The one he scored on a sensational individual effort late in the second period of Game 6 Tuesday in Tampa, for example, gave the Penguins a 3-0 lead, but became the winner when the Lightning generated a pair of third-period goals in what ended up as a 5-2 Penguins victory.
