Penguins' Lovejoy out with "long term" upper body injury

Penguins defenseman Ben Lovejoy will be out “long term” with an upper body injury, coach Mike Sullivan said today after practice.

Lovejoy left the ice on Saturday at 7:12 of the second period in a game against the Tampa Bay Lightning. He appeared to be injured after a hit by Lightning winger J.T. Brown that sent him to the dressing room, unassisted.

Sullivan said there is no specific timetable for his return, but stressed it will be a while.

“It’s long term. As I said in the past, I’m not going to put a time frame on it, but it’s of the longer term nature,” said Sullivan.
