Penguins center Sidney Crosby is a finalist for the Hart Trophy, which is awarded to the player "adjudged to be most valuable to his team."
The other finalists are Dallas winger Jamie Benn and Chicago winger Patrick Kane.
Crosby, a two-time Hart winner, was the league's No. 3 scorer during the regular season, with 85 points. He is a finalist for the fifth time.
Kane won the regular-season scoring championship and Benn placed second.
Members of the Professional Hockey Writers Association voted on the Hart.
The Hart, along with other league honors, will be presented at the NHL's awards ceremony June 22 in Las Vegas.
