TAMPA, Fla. — The Penguins might have caught the break of their season in the first period of Game 6, by making the call of the postseason.
The Penguins came out strong, but the Lightning appeared to score on their first shot just 5:12 into the contest. It was a lead that could have been insurmountable in an elimination scenario. Instead, the Penguins challenged, and the goal was overturned.
“That’s a huge break for us. If they get 1-0, it’s a whole different ballgame,” said winger Patric Hornqvist.
Lightning winger Ondrej Palat took a feed on the left wing that drew goalie Matt Murray wide — to his right — and well out of the crease.
