Braden Holtby is an excellent goalie, particularly when he can see every shot.
The Penguins were not the better team on the ice for Game 3 Monday night against the Capitals, but managed to get three goals on 23 shots by the Vezina Trophy finalist in a 3-2 win.
Afterwards, players said a critical area that needs improvement is offensive zone time, and making life more difficult for Holtby via traffic, screens, and second-chance opportunities.
“We didn’t get enough zone time. Usually, zone time, what comes with that is getting to the front of the net, getting rebounds, having a little bit more of a presence there just as kind of a result of playing the right way in the offensive zone,” said Sidney Crosby.
