Penguins Acquire Dumba, Second-Round Pick from Stars

The Penguins have acquired veteran defenseman Mathew Dumba from Dallas. Also coming the Pens’ way, the Stars’ second-round pick in the 2028 Entry Draft.

Heading to the Lone Star state to complete the deal, erstwhile black-and-gold defenseman Vladislav Kolyachonok.

Once-upon-a-time a prodigy whose boxcars in junior were eerily reminiscent of recent high-profile draftee Kashawn Aitcheson, Dumba, soon to be 31, was a seventh overall pick of the Wild in 2012. A fairly accomplished offensive defenseman, to boot. Over a four-season stretch at the outset of his career, the Regina, Saskatchewan, native pounded home 47 goals, including a 14-goal, 50-point campaign for the Wild in 2017-18.
