Marc-Andre Fleury was not very good Sunday night in the Penguins’ 4-3 overtime loss to Tampa Bay in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference final.
He looked rusty and like he got worse as the game wore on, not better.
It got to the point in the third period that just about every shot that was sent his way seemed to be an adventure, and it wasn’t a shock that the first shot he faced in overtime went in the goal.
But he wasn’t the reason the Penguins lost. I thought the correct move would have been to stick with Matt Murray, but there is no way to say definitively that if Murray had played, the Penguins would have won.
