On this date in Penguins history: Penguins pepper Sabres in 8-3 victory

Nine years ago today, the Penguins scored eight goals in a rout of the Buffalo Sabres, a game that featured a hat trick from Evgeni Malkin.

The team was rocked with injuries on the blue line at the time, with players like Carl Sneep and Alexandre Picard both seeing heavy minutes.

Thankfully for Pittsburgh, the injuries didn’t slow the team down.

They came out firing, with three goals in the first 10 minutes of the game, with scores from Jason Williams (!), Simon Despres (!), and Malkin.

After Buffalo would get one back, Malkin would net his second for a 4-1 lead at the first break.
