Matt Murray returns to ice for Penguins morning skate

WASHINGTON — Penguins goalie Matt Murray returned to the ice for the team’s morning skate Wednesday.

Tristan Jarry was not on the ice, indicating that Murray will likely serve as the team’s backup against the Capitals in Game 7.

Murray has not been on the ice with the team since before Game 1 of the first round against the Blue Jackets, when he left warm-ups early with an undisclosed injury. He has been skating on his own for the past few weeks.

In his absence, Marc-Andre Fleury has stepped back into his role as the Penguins’ starting goalie, going 7-4 in the playoffs with a 2.
