Loss at Capitals jolted Penguins back to reality and winning ways

A beating that brutal was sure to leave a mark. If nothing else, some badly bruised egos.

So it shouldn’t be surprising that, nearly two months after the fact, the Penguins’ memories of their 7-1 loss Nov. 16 to Washington at Verizon Center remain vivid.

“It’s a game where we certainly weren’t at our best,” coach Mike Sullivan said Monday. “And we all know it.”

And they surely won’t forget before venturing back to Washington to face the Capitals Wednesday.

“Especially when it’s the last time you played there, it’s a little more fresh,” center Sidney Crosby said.
