Lightning's Callahan will not face disciplinary hearing for hit on Letang

Tampa Bay winger Ryan Callahan will not have a disciplinary hearing with the NHL's Department of Player Safety over his hit on Penguins defenseman Kris Letang Friday night.

That means Callahan will be neither fined nor suspended.

The incident occurred at 2:50 of Period 1 in the Lightning's 3-1 victory, when Callahan hit Letang from behind and drove him face-first into the glass in the Penguins' end.

Callahan was assessed a five-minute major penalty, but not a game misconduct.

Letang went to the dressing room and did not return for about 10 minutes of playing time, but finished the game.
