In the dying minutes of the Penguins’ final regular season matchup vs. the New York Rangers, Jake Guentzel took advantage of a wild scrum in front of NYR netminder Alexandar Georgiev to push through his 40th goal of the season.
With that goal, Guentzel joins an extremely exclusive list of elite 40-goal scoring Penguins from years past. It includes the likes of Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Jaromir Jagr, Mario Lemieux, Alexei Kovalev, James Neal, and Petr Nevded — an incredible group of players.
