Former Penguins assistant Mike Vellucci hired by Blackhawks

For the first time in six seasons, Mike Vellucci will not be a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins organization this fall.

The Chicago Blackhawks announced on Monday that Vellucci had been hired as an assistant coach on new head coach Jeff Bashill’s staff.

“I’m looking forward to working alongside Mike who has excelled behind the bench at every level, as both a head and assistant coach,” Blashill said in a statement shared by the team.
