Ex-NHL Player Matt Herr Named Executive Director Of UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex

Matt Herr, who played seven years of professional hockey and most recently was a regional manager for USA Hockey’s American Development Model, has been named executive director and general manager of the new UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry.

Herr, 38, will oversee business and hockey operations at the complex, which is scheduled to open in August. He will work with UPMC Sports Medicine and Sports Performance to design an integrated player development model for hockey and also will be responsible for creating and attracting high-profile hockey events to the region.

“Matt brings a unique skill set to this new position at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex,” said David Morehouse, CEO and President of the Penguins.
