Center Nick Bonino given a “maintenance day”

Center Nick Bonino did not participate in the Penguins’ practice this afternoon, but apparently will be available for their game against Toronto Saturday at PPG Paints Arena.

Coach Mike Sullivan said Bonino was given a “maintenance day,” which players often get when they need rest or time to deal with a minor injury.

With Bonino missing, the Penguins’ forward combinations were predictably scrambled during the workout, but coach Mike Sullivan said he and his staff “explored some options” with reconfigured lines.
