WASHINGTON – Goalie Braden Holtby and a resurgent power play led Washington to a 3-1 victory against the Penguins in Game 5 of their second-round playoff series tonight at Verizon Center.
Holtby stopped 30 of 31 shots, while the Capitals scored on two of five chances with the man-advantage after going just 1-for-12 in the previous four games.
The Penguins have a 3-2 lead in the series, which will resume with Game 6 Tuesday at 8:10 p.m. at Consol Energy Center.
Washington defenseman Brooks Orpik finished serving his three-game suspension for a hit to the head on Penguins defenseman Olli Maatta in Game 2, and is eligible to return Tuesday.
