If the NHL was sending a message by levying a three game suspension on Capitals defenseman Brooks Orpik for the excessively late and high hit that injured Olli Maatta, the Penguins aren’t weighing in.
“Kind of expected something to happen. It was a bad hit,” captain Sidney Crosby said. “It’s a hit that probably shouldn’t happen and they took care of it, like they usually do. I don’t think you have to analyze it that much. It is what it is.”
Coach Mike Sullivan said the suspension doesn’t change a thing for his team. The puck drops for Game 3 of the Penguins-Capitals second round series at 8:10 tonight at Consol Energy Center.
