Canadiens defeat Penguins, 4-1, in preseason game in Quebec

Montreal defeated the Penguins, 4-1, in a preseason game at Centre Videotron in Quebec City this evening.

The game was the first professional contest at that arena, which was built in hopes of securing an NHL franchise.

After Alexander Semin staked Montreal to a 1-0 lead at 13:36 of the opening period, Beau Bennett countered for the Penguins during a power play at 15:28, as his cross-ice feed to Daniel Sprong appeared to be deflected past Canadiens goalie Carey Price by Montreal winger Dale Weise.

Lars Eller got what proved to be the game-winner for the Canadiens with a power-play goal one minute into the second, and Montreal’s Brian Flynn added an insurance goal early in the third before Weise scored into an empty net during the final minute of regulation to close out the scoring.
