Blue Jackets' streak on former Penguins' radar

With a day off at the end of December, Ulf Samuelsson, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, with his Charlotte Checkers, did what any self-respecting hockey fan would do.

He braved the cold and ventured to MTS Centre to see the Jets play host to the Columbus Blue Jackets, the NHL’s hottest team in decades.

Samuelsson, the former Penguins defenseman and first-year bench boss of Carolina’s AHL affiliate, watched Columbus build a 4-1 lead behind a pair of power play goals and hang on for its 14th win in a row.

Two wins later, the Blue Jackets are in Washington today trying for consecutive win No.
