After nearly two months of searching, Hayes' first home of season is heroic

SAN DIEGO -- Off the bat it was clear it wasn't going to get caught. The question was whether it would clear the wall or fall just short.

For Ke'Bryan Hayes, it had been the latter all too often.

But in the ninth inning Saturday at PETCO Park, the Pirates first baseman not only cleared the fence, he did it to the largest part of the ballpark:

That 409-foot shot off Padres closer Taylor Rogers, Hayes' first of the season, was the game-winner, resulting in a 4-2 Pirates win.
