Jeff Capel and the Pitt coaching staff were the recipients of disappointing news on Thursday night, as Ethan Morton, the No. 1 Pennsylvania recruit in the 2020 cycle, announced his commitment to Purdue. Pitt was one of eight finalists for Morton's services.
"To all the coaches that recruited me throughout this process, I am grateful for the relationships that we built and the advice that was given," Morton said in a message posted on Twitter. "With that being said, I would like to announce that I am 100 percent committed to Purdue University. Thanks to Coach Painter, the entire Purdue staff and [the] Purdue fanbase for accepting me into your family.
