Last season, Pitt basketball fans were treated to a blast from the past, as the team donned gold throwbacks between February and March. They were the subject of a teaser, a trailer and a highly anticipated unveiling and presaged the school’s permanent return to royal blue and university gold.
As such, they drew attention locally and nationally, earning a nomination for 2019 Basketball Uniform of the Year at Uniswag, a sports fashion website. The award is given based on the outcome of a fan vote, and the Pitt uniform topped entries from Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Hawaii, Louisville, Nebraska, Northwestern, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Tulane to win the honor.
