This weekend, Pitt softball got a lot of attention with the Panthers reaching their first-ever NCAA championship. Unfortunately, I didn't get to check in as the track and field team performed in the ACC outdoor championships, but a few athletes had big days.
None got more recognition than Desmond Palmer, who took first place in the 400m hurdles as he was crowned as an individual champion. Palmer has had a big year, helping the team rebound from the loss of star Brycen Spratling. Earlier this year, he broke a long-time school record in the 400m hurdles and this weekend, he broke that mark again, running a career-best 49.
