The Deandre Ayton era is off to a good start.
In his NBA debut the future of the frontcourt for the Phoenix franchise poured in 18 points to go with 10 rebounds and six assists in a 121-100 home win over the Dallas Mavericks. It was the first Suns’ win on opening night in four seasons.
Ayton cobbled that stat line together against two-time NBA All-Defensive First Team selection DeAndre Jordan. His next challenge will be the first road matchup of his career, Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets on Saturday.
