One of the quiet ripple effects of the Kevin Durant trade was its ability to delay a handful of key administrative moves. Because the deal, agreed to on June 22, couldn’t be made official until the NBA’s July 6 moratorium ended, the Phoenix Suns found themselves in a holding pattern.

They couldn’t announce things that were directly tied to that trade, even if the rest of the league had already moved forward. One such example? The release of their Summer League roster.
