Suns won't have same depth for opener with Ty Jerome, Cam Johnson sidelined

The Phoenix Suns will open the 2019-20 season without their two first-round picks who played well enough in the preseason and in practice to be part of the 10-man rotation.

Cameron Johnson (left calf soreness) and Ty Jerome (right ankle sprain) have both been ruled out for Wednesday's season opener against Sacramento at Talking Stick Resort Arena.

Suns head coach Monty Williams said after Tuesday's practice that Johnson had been dealing with a calf strain while Jerome turned his ankle on Monday.

"It could impact us, obviously from a development standpoint, but they are young guys," said Williams before the Suns released an official report on the injuries.
