Suns offense next to hit low point in loss to Lakers

LOS ANGELES – Covering the complete spectrum of atrocious play, the Suns went from some of the most despicable defense in franchise history to indisputably the most awful offense played in Suns uniforms in one weekend.

Any lingering hope for the season rested on handling lowly Western Conference teams like the Sacramento Kings and Los Angeles Lakers this weekend. It turns out the Suns are worse.

After the worst Suns defense in a quarter-century Saturday night at Sacramento, the Suns set a franchise-record scoring low for the second time in 11 months by crawling to 22 first-half points Sunday in a 97-77, off-the-cliff loss to the Lakers at Staples Center.
