Report: Former Phoenix Suns Center Neal Walk Passes Away

According to Paul Coro of the Arizona Republic, former Phoenix Suns center Neal Walk, who spent five seasons in the Valley in the late 60s and early 70s, passed away Sunday night. After weeks of poor health due to various medical problems, Walk died at a Phoenix hospital at the age of 67.

As the No. 2 overall pick in the 1969 NBA Draft, Walk was Phoenix’s consolation prize after losing a coin toss to the Milwaukee Bucks for the No. 1 overall pick. The Bucks selected the top prize in the draft, Lew Alcindor, who would go on to become Kareem Abdul-Jabbar — a six-time NBA champion, six-time MVP and the league’s all-time leading scorer.
