Phoenix Suns' 118-102 loss to Oklahoma City Thunder goes beyond Russell Westbrook's 40

PHOENIX — Josh Jackson gave the simplest and most logical answer to Phoenix’s 118-102 loss Friday night to Oklahoma City.

“Russell (Westbrook) got hot,” Jackson said. “He’s just got going.”

Westbrook went inferno, scoring a game-high 40 points with 15 coming in the final 6 1/2 minutes of the game as the Thunder outscored the Suns, 37-18, in the fourth quarter.

“We missed out on a couple of switches, he got free a little bit and he got going,” Jackson continued. “Saw some easy ones go in and the tough ones started to fall.”

Sounds simple enough, but that’s only scratching the surface as to why the Thunder (22-12) beat the Suns (9-27) without Paul George, who was out with a quad injury, to sweep the season series, 4-0.
